118 Things About Me
Here it is. Now don't go crazy, kids. And if you can't be bothered to read it all, I don't blame you.
2. My name is Siri, which is a fairly normal Norwegian female name. 3. I do not have a middle name, which causes me endless aggravation. 4. If I could choose, I’d have Christine as my middle name, after my grandfather (Christian). Siri Christine sounds pretty in Norwegian. In English it probably sounds like a disease. 5. My initials are SS. 6. I have a cat. His name is so unusual that I’d rather not share it here; as it could lead to people I know finding this diary (I have used his name in this diary before, so if you look for it, it might still be there) 7. He is not fat, just big-boned. 8. Or rugged. 9. Lately I’ve wanted a dog too. I’m not quite sure what breed. Ideally I’d want one big, protective, strong dog like this or this, and one small, cute chick dog like this or this.
11. In general, I love animals. I used to be scared of dogs, but not anymore. I don’t know why that changed. 12. I collect miniature teddy bears from travels. 13. I also collect gift bags, tea bags, beautiful fabrics, shawls, cookbooks, pink chick lit English pocket books and chestnut people (people made out of chestnuts…. Yes, I’m a child at heart). 14. I love fruits and vegetables; there are very few types I dislike. I’m not crazy about melon (except watermelon) and beets. 15. I drink a lot of water. A lot. 16. I don’t drink any type of soda. I never have. 17. I’m a caffeine addict. 18. I’m a chocolate addict. 19. I’m 1,68m (5’6) and weigh 55 kgs (120 lbs) 20. My BMI is 19.4 or 19.5, which is normal. 21. I’ve never had my IQ tested, for which I’m very grateful. 22. I don’t think a high IQ necessarily makes you a wise person. At least not in all aspects of life. Maybe I like to think that because I bet I wouldn’t score very high on an IQ test. 23. I’ve had my cell phone and wallet stolen. 24. My wallet was actually returned to me about 6 months after it had been stolen. I was surprised, to put it mildly. 25. My cell phone is still out there, though. Luckily I got it covered by insurance and got a new one. 26. My old cell phone was named after Leah, my new one is called Leah pt. 2. 27. I have a car, a cow and a goat named after me… 28. My name means “victorious” 29. That kind of gives me performance anxiety, although I don’t think Mom knew that when she named me. 30. My birthday is March 12, 1986. That makes me 18, and able to buy beer and wine in Norway, and gives me the right to vote. I can also get my driving license (which I have). 31. I love driving. 32. Currently, I’m the only girl at our school with a driving license. I rock… 33. I drive a VW Polo, which is Mom’s. According to VW, it’s “Dragon Green”. 34. My dream car isthis, or this. 35. Needless to say, that will stay a dream. Because… 36. …I don’t currently have a job. 37. I’ve had two jobs to date, first at a garden center and then at a 7-Eleven. I worked at the garden center from age 14-17, and then 6 months at 7-Eleven (they closed the store down, which is why it was such a short-term thing. I didn’t get fired!). At the last job interview I went to, the interviewer was impressed I had “that much work experience considering my young age”. I got the job, but didn’t want it because the boss seemed like a bitch. I kind of regret that decision now. 38. One of my tasks at the garden center was being Santa Clause during the holiday season. I imagine it must’ve been kind of weird for some of the young kids to see a 14-year-old female Santa. 39. I want to believe in Santa 40. But not the Easter Bunny. That’s just too far-fetched. 41. I love Christmas, and throughout December I’m all giggles and smiles and “ooh, look at that purty Christmas tree!” 42. I have a very low self-esteem. 43. I’m very spontaneous, but I also like it when things are planned. 44. I’m very afraid of flying (in airplanes. The idea of flying (by yourself) is very exciting to me). 45. I love reading. Books. And magazines. And newspapers. And CD booklets. 46. I don’t have a favorite author (there are too many to choose from, and it also changes as I discover new authors). 47. I love movies too, but I do not have a favorite movie either. I do however have two favorite directors, Martin Scorsese and Pedro Almodóvar. 48. I love shopping. As long as I don’t a job, I have to stay away though. Like depriving a basic instinct. 49. I used to play tennis for 4 years. The coaches harassed us, so some of quit. I was one of them. 50. I’ve also done power yoga, and want to start doing it again. 51. When I was born, my left foot wouldn’t bend down, which caused it to be locked in one position. Mom had to stretch it every day, and I wore a cast. It’s fixed, and I walk perfectly normal, but it’s tiresome to run and stand for long periods at a time. 52. I have a chronic ear infection, which makes my ears incredibly sensitive, and I’m not supposed to swim underwater. However, underwater swimming is so much fun that I do it anyway. I usually regret it afterwards. Ear infections are painful bitches. 53. I own about 20 CD’s. That is tragic, I know. 54. I own about 30 empty gift bags, in comparison. 55. I can row a boat. Forwards and backwards. Bow down. 56. I can play quite a few instruments. 57. I don’t like trance or techno. 58. I like r’n’b and hip-hop. You wouldn’t be able to tell from looking at me. 59. Quite a few people tell me I have beautiful eyes. I don’t see why. They are blue. 60. On myself, I think I’m most pleased with my butt. 61. You all know this. 62. My favorite body part on a guy is his hands. 63. Second favorite? The nape of his neck. 64. I absolutely love ice cream. My favorite is Häagen-Dazs Strawberry Cheesecake. 65. My second favorite? Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food 66. I can make pancakes. 67. This is a newly acquired talent. 68. I can’t pick a favorite time of the year, because I love all of them, and the differences that make them unique. I’m absolutely crazy about snow! I love it. 69. I love to travel, but my fear of flying is limiting the amount of travel I do. That, and I can’t really afford it. 70. I really want to go the US again. 71. As a second choice I have South Africa. 72. I love photographing. I’m not very good at it, though. 73. Sometimes I sing in the shower. 74. I sing all the time in the car. 75. I want to be a translator when I grow up. 76. I just misspelled “translator”… 77. I speak Norwegian and English fluently. I can read and understand someone speaking the other Scandinavian languages (Swedish and Danish). My Spanish is okay, and I can read German. I guess that makes me bilingual. 78. I am an only child. 79. Well, technically not… I have 4 half-siblings. 80. They don’t know who I am. 81. My grandparents on my father’s side don’t know that they have another granddaughter either. 82. I admire my mother a lot. 83. My favorite alcoholic drink is caipirinha. 84. I lost my virginity to a 35-year-old. 85. I don’t regret that. 86. I have trouble falling asleep at night. This is due to thinking too much. I usually eat a banana to make me sleepy, but that trick only works occasionally. 87. Mom and I tape episodes of the TV showThe Nanny. Yes, we know it was cancelled years ago. Norwegian TV still shows it. And we’re still taping! We have almost all the episodes… And if you don’t like The Nanny… well that’s just your loss J 88. My favorite cuisine is Italian, then Chinese. 89. I love sex! 90. I have only been to two continents, Europe and North America. 91. In Europe, I’ve been to Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Britain, Germany, France, Holland, Italy, and Spain. 92. In North America I’ve been to New York and New Jersey J 93. I think it’s very important that I’ve been to two states. 94. Yes, we landed on Newark. 95. I’m shy with new people, but this changes dramatically if I get to know them well. 96. One of my biggest pet peeves is spelling mistakes… 97. …The other is people who are noisy sleepers, which means they snore, talk in their sleep or simply breathe loudly. Six degrees of aggravation. 98. I re-read both books and magazines, if I think they’re good. 99. I fall in love too easily. 100. I don’t like tunnels or elevators. 101. And I’m terrified of spiders. 102. My favorite English word is currently “persuasive” 103. I have a lot of favorite flowers, but unfortunately don’t know the English names for any of them. 104. I’m on the Pill. It’s free if you’re under 20 in Norway. 105. My idea of a good time is curling up in a heap of pillows on the floor in my room, drinking hot chocolate and reading a book or watching romantic comedies, wrapped in my warm blanket with roses printed on it. 106. Or getting really drunk and go to clubs with friends J 107. I’m diverse! 108. I’ll try anything once. Unless it’s life threatening. 109. I have a teddy bear in my bed with me. His name is Brumle. 110. I do cross-country skiing and slalom, and I really want to learn how to snowboard. 111. My feet and hands get cold easily. 112. I have trouble talking to other people about my problems. This causes a lot of issues and is not very healthy either, as I keep everything bottled up inside. Why don’t I share? I feel that my problems aren’t important, and I don’t want to bother people with them. I sometimes have trouble writing down issues in this diary too. Still, I manage to do quite a lot of whining here, don’t I? J 113. I have a love/hate relationship with MSN messenger. Mostly hate. 114. I have a strictly hate relationship with AIM messenger. 115. I’m a good map-reader. 116. I make delicious pies. 117. I love playing in the snow. 118. I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue.
