About A Whale
It was great to see H again, we had a lovely week in Trondheim. Then I went even further north, to witness my godchild's christening. It was a very nice ceremony, and they wanted me to hold the baby while the priest was doing his... thing! I was so honored, we were four godparents after all.
It's always funny visiting the relatives. I was picked up from the train by my cousin, who's Lea's father. He'd just bought a new car, and was very obviously proud (and he should be, it was a very fancy car!). He wanted to show me all the different gadgets and extras and everything, and one of his most proudest moments was when he was showing me the voice-activated heating device. Unfortunately, it was in English. I think he tried about a dozen times in total, saying various renderings of the word "temperature" to the car computer. I guess when you don't really speak the language, it's kind of difficult to get the poor computer to understand what you're saying... There wasn't much temperature activating happening, anyway. To his credit, he did manage it in the end. And I learned something too: There are a thousand ways to pronouce "temperature", and only one's imagination sets the boundaries. I've decided to start reading some literary classics, as I feel I've sort of been ignoring them in favor of more contemporary literature... Most recently, for instance, PS, I love you, which is nice and funny and touching and all, but not exactly food for the brain. So I grasped the opportunity when I discovered a book sale in Trondheim, and bought five more or less classic works: * Jane Austen, Sense And Sensibility * Herman Melville, Moby Dick * Louisa M. Alcott, Little Women * Emily Brontė, Wuthering Heights * Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray So I've got some reading to do, in other words. Also, I bought bananas and tomatoes after working out, and I'm sitting around in my underwear.
