Challenge! *Cue Dramatic Music*
I have been challenged! But it's a fun challenge, given to me by the smart, funny and charming Kevin, and of course I can't resist it.
The challenge is as follows: Come up with 5 things that are popular in the modern age, but that you just don't get. 1. The language used on news headlines, particularly CNN. Why are you dropping "and"? It's only three letters! I am pro-and. 2. Trends that are so widely advertised that in the end, EVERYBODY cave in and follow them, whether they like it or not. Cases in point: iPods and The Da Vinci code. 3. Ringtones and the evil people behind them. People should not be tricked into thinking they NEED to have this or that ringtone. And the rest of the people in the subway car should not be driven to madness just because you can’t find your phone and we’re serenaded with a particularly beepy and deformed version of Mambo No. 5. And that frog one... SPAWN OF THE DEVIL! 4. Make-up and skin product ads. Who ever heard of Pro-Hydryl or cyclopentasiloxane or aluminium hydroxide, and more importantly: What are they doing in my sunscreen??? 5. Reality-TV. Oh good God. What kind of person can, even for a second, lure themselves into thinking that watching them sitting on a couch picking their nose is good entertainment for the people? And who in their right mind come up with these concepts? AND WHY ARE PEOPLE STILL WATCHING??? Nice to vent, isn't it?
