Scary New Bed And Wonderful (Not-Scary) Boyfriend
I just finished reading "White Teeth" by Zadie Smith, and I have to say it's a great book. It was recommended reading in my Lonely Planet guide to England, which I've bought in preparation for my year abroad. Lonely Planet said it would be an interesting look on "multicultural Britain". I agree. And it was funny too!
I went skiing with Mom today (I'm home in Oslo for the week), 10 kms, it was great and the weather was fantastic. There was a lot of dog poop around though. I've suddenly got a huge double bed in my room. It doesn't look like my innocent, young girl's room anymore... It looks adult, grown-up, scary. You could fit five-six Siris on that bed. The bed screams "COUPLE!" "SEX!" "CHILD-MAKING!" True, I am in a couple, we do have sex, but there are no plans for any child-making for another, oh, 5-8 years. Roughly. Mom got the bed from a friend who moved from her apartment and probably couldn't fit the bed in the new one. It's kind of old-fashioned and although I wanted a larger bed than the tiny one I had before (meant for one, tiny, non-sexually active person), this might be taking it a bit too far. Since H isn't here with me, I'm lying in it alone, and I swear I sometimes feel afraid I'll get lost in the bed and not find my way out. If I were single, this bed would be muy depressing. H gave me an iPod nano for my birthday (I visited him in Trondheim over the weekend, and since he won't be able to visit me for my birthday (SNIFF), we celebrated it a little early). He's crazy. iPods are crazy expensive. And he's a student. And he's just too generous for his own economy. I love him, though, my crazy boyfriend. And I love my new iPod, it's white and shiny and has a lot of bad music on it. As I'm writing this I'm lying on my scary new bed, laptop in front of me, thinking: Must procreate. Must make babies. Must continue the species.
