On Rainy Days (We Go Swimming Out)
I'm having a warm foot bath - it's a damp, rainy day in Oslo today - and, as per usual, I had too much water in it and it's pouring out on the floor. It's delicious though, foot baths are heavenly.
I just came back from a walk in the city (which is why I needed the foot bath. My gorgeous, white embroidered leather moccasins are obviously not water-proof. But who cares when they're so cute?), where I had a double cappucino and purchased InStyle, which has become my new fashion magazine addiction (I already have too many of those - fashion magazine addictions that is - and they are particularly expensive addictions too, because foreign magazines cost a fortune here in Norway). The sheer pleasure of sitting by yourself in a café, reading a magazine while it's pouring down outside, in my case (because I just can't resist the temptation) nibbling on a cookie, is greatly underestimated I think. In general, I think doing things by yourself is underestimated, because it's just so nice to don't have to care about keeping up a conversation or worrying about how you look or if the person(s) you're with doesn't like the place, and just focus on enjoying yourself and relaxing. But I'm introverted and as such not really a people person, which could very well be why I enjoy and apreciate solitude. In fact, I need it at regular intervals. I've explained this to H, who actually agreed *squeals!* and says he needs his alone time too, so basically... I'm in the perfect relationship! You know, if you ignore the fact that in a month's time we'll be 1000 kilometres away from each other. Sniff. Yesterday the new Harry Potter book came out, as I'm sure you're aware of, and I happened to be in town, following H on the night train to Bergen (sadly he's going to be away for a week, on a sailboat, sailing the Western coast of Norway (where, by the way, two of our most beautiful fjords, Geirangerfjorden and Nærøyfjorden, which just got a deserved spot on UNESCO'S World Heritage List, are located), I miss him terribly), and I thought about stopping by one of the night open bookstores and get it, but figured nah. As I so often do (figure nah). Just thought you should know.
